Pediatric dentistry is a dental specialty focused on the oral health care of children, from infants to teenagers. Its goal is to prevent, diagnose, and treat dental issues specific to early ages, as well as to teach good oral hygiene habits from childhood.
Within pediatric dentistry, treatments include dental cleanings, fluoride application to strengthen enamel, sealants to prevent cavities, restorations (fillings) in baby or permanent teeth, extraction of primary teeth when necessary, and treatment of dental trauma. Education is also provided to both parents and children about oral care, and regular check-ups are conducted to monitor proper dental development.
